Racine boréale

boreal root

Chibougamau exists thanks to the exploitation of its natural resources. The richness of the soils and the vast expanses of water dotted with boreal forest are part of my memories and deep inspirations.

My native land has always been an integral part of my artistic journey, but it is increasingly expressed with discernment and truthfulness in my current work. The exhibition "Boreal Roots" highlights this more assertive representation. It brings together a series of canvases depicting abstract landscapes, sculptures that seem alive, and furniture created in the manner of a sculptor.

The chosen canvases depict wild horizons in the middle of nowhere, and others offer aerial or eclectic perspectives of these spaces. As always, texture takes center stage in my paintings, which are often enlivened by vibrant, brilliant colors reminiscent of precious metals or water shimmering in the sunlight. The sculptures and tables are crafted from raw materials and sustainably sourced wood from Quebec.

The common thread linking all the works presented is our relationship with the environment and the fact that it is an integral part of our daily lives. This is the central theme I wish to express in order to ultimately convey and share my artistic approach.

I am very happy to showcase my art in my native region, which has always inspired me. The art of returning to my northern roots.
