Hidden treasure

I want to talk to you about my palette, yes, my color palette.

In almost all my abstract landscapes, white, the colors of water and sky are omnipresent, but the colors of precious metals also hold a prominent place. Of course, I use other colors, but I've wondered why I have this irresistible urge to add shades of silver and gold, and why blue is my color of choice.

For me, the color blue embodies calm, wide open spaces, and contemplation; it simply makes me feel good! No wonder it's the favorite color of most people.

And then, white... For somewhat similar reasons, but this one adds a touch of light and purity. Furthermore, having a background in graphic design, white also evokes the blank page where the possibilities are endless.

For me, the color silver embodies the future; it is stimulating and energizing. It evokes steel and aluminum, metals that are also found in my sculptures and tables.

In several of my paintings, the color gold is concealed within the texture or appears in minute patches like a hidden treasure. This color symbolizes spirituality and wealth, but for me, it is also part of my most vivid memories. As a child, I visited a gold mine and absorbed the full power of this color.

Being from Chibougamau, a town whose existence is built on the exploitation of its natural resources, is, I believe, intimately linked to my color palette. Indeed, the richness of the soil and the vast expanses of water dotted with boreal forest are among my deepest inspirations. Vibrant and brilliant colors, like those of metals or water sparkling in the sunlight, are ingrained in my very being.
